Three weeks after finishing my C25K program, I had my first 5K race ever just last Saturday!!! It was such a blast and I loved every minute of it! The weather was good and there were about 700-800 participants (not all of them on the 5K race though). I ran my personal best of 29:24!! It was totally unexpected and I was sooooooo happy and proud of myself because my average pace has only been about 11 minute/mile leading up to the race. Nothing beats the feeling seeing my wife and baby girl cheering for me at the finish line. Don't mean to gloat and I know 29min isn't really a fast finish by any means but I was surprised at how many people I passed during the race, it felt really awesome!

I am hooked. Time to register a 10K race!!

Hey Kevin. You're in your LAST week of the C25k? You rawk! I've been humbled enough by your awesome performance to get my butt back in the program. I've been keeping up with strength training but kind of completely slacked away from running. Eating sensibly is HARD and it's a lifetime commitment so we're all there with you on that one! Like your new avatar - pretty soon you'll have to change your profile too!

Keep up the good work and the weight will come off. I've totally been slacking this week. I haven't gone running in a while, but I do ride my bike. Things have been hectic, but I need to get things back on track.

Oh man!! I did so well in the beginning part of the week and went down to 187.2lbs (probably water weight??), but right after the weekend my weight shot back up to 191.8lbs!!! Well, admittedly I have been slacking on my diet and ate some pizza and some tasty garlic bread during the weekend, but WTF????

I have been hitting the gym hard, so I really hope at least some of the pounds is due to the muscles that I am gaining. My BF% dropped from 20.4% to 19.6%. But still not sure if that attributes to the 4.5 pound gain in such short period of time.

This week also marks the final week (week 9) of my C25K training. I can run faster and further than ever. Any run below 30 minutes is becoming easy, so the program really works if you stick to it.

Anyway, seriously need to pay more attention to my diet this week.

This past week was a pretty good week. The hundred and eighties is within grasp!!! Also my Omron bodyfat monitor has arrived, the first few days have been prettty constant, in the range of 20.x.

Yeah, I think it's time for a new race. I'm doing a lot of team challenges that I really don't care too much about. I haven't gone for a run in a couple of days. You should really set up a challenge. :)

You're doing so well, Kevin. What challenges are you doing on Nike now?
Marianne Buckland

Okay. What can I say?...I'm a good trash talker. You can set up a challenge when you're ready.

My left knee is really killing me...I think I need to cut down my mileage.

It sucks that your mind has all the motivation in the world, but yet your body cannot handle it :(

I agree completely with Meg S. You're doing very well by staying motivated. Keep it up, Kevin.

Don't get discouraged about the no weight loss week. We all have those weeks and it's good you didn't gain so you're still on track. Even if your calorie expenditure wasn't greater than your intake you're still conditioning your body and your mind to a healthier you. So though it can disappointing to see no weight loss for a week, keep your eyes on the prize.

Umm...This week has not been a good week. I have been exercising hard, burnt a lot of calories, but still next to no weight change. A little disappointing....

It's probably because of my diet. I don't consider myself eating a lot or anything like that though, except today, where I indulged myself with some Lobster Ravioli and tiramisu :) Just because today's Father's day so I allowed myself for such exception...hehe

BTW it is sooooo cute that your bay bay and boo boo are cheering you on! The wisdom of crowds in terms of the C25K is not to push yourself esp. in terms of speed (I'm not sure if that's what you did to make you fall short). I did that for week 4 but trying to improve endurance AND speed proved too much and now I'm back to week 3. I'm taking it slooooooow (but steady). (Actually I'm taking a week off of running).

Thanks. :) I've had my Nike for 2 weeks now. I usually run (or try to run) a mile or 2 every other day. On Saturdays I go for a group run and do about 4-5 miles. Do you have a running partner?

I have Wii Fit envy! I wanted to get one but they were sold out. What week are you in in the C25K? I hurt my hip/lower back and regressed to week 3 because week 4 was killing me so I think we're in the same week. I'll probably park myself here until my hip/lower back gets stronger so you'll probably pass me. I heard a lot of good things about the Nike kit but too bad it has no heart rate monitor.

I have been training hard this week and logged a lot of different exercises (running, elliptical, table tennis, walking, wii fit). Not so much of a weight loss yet, but I am sure it will follow.

On another high note, the Wii Fit Balance Board told me today that I am no longer "obese" but just "overweight". Yay me!!! LOL!!!

I'm fairly skilled in the languge. Oh, who am I kidding...I'M AWESOME! :) That's great that you're teaching you child to sign. It really does cut down on frustration if they can tell you want they want.

Yep! I bought a Nike Sports Kit last week and a Marware pouch armband last week but they haven't arrived yet. I will let you know as soon as they arrived. I don't know if I will be able to find a track to calibrate it with though. Anyway, a challenge sounds GREAT! :D
